Place Value Activities and Centers

Place Value Activities and Centers

Last week, I finished up my place value to 100 unit with my kids. I used a few of the centers activities from my Place Value Down on the Farm unit. The kids really enjoyed it.  I set up six stations that included different place value strategies. (There are MORE in my place value pack, but we haven’t gotten to thousands yet, so I’ll save the rest for later!) Check out these place value activities and centers below.

Station 1: Word and Number Word Matching

In this group, students were in charge of reading the three-digit number word and matching it to the three-digit numeral. I also had the students practice writing three-digit number words by copying their answers on a whiteboard as they worked.

Station 2: Identify Hundreds/Tens/Ones

Students will draw a three-digit number and copy it onto their recording sheet. Then, they will fill out the place value chart by writing how many hundreds, tens, and ones each three-digit number has.

Station 3: Representing 3 Digit Numbers with Place Value Blocks

Making sure your kiddos see a number with a concrete model is very important. One activity they did in their centers was to pull a tractor number and represent that number with base-ten blocks. They had to place the hundreds, tens, and ones on the mat to show each number.

All of these centers are included in my Place Value Down on the Farm pack! It’s been updated since these pictures were taken, so some of the clip art will look different.
