This W.1.7 and W.1.8 Research Writing unit helps students learn how to find information in books and digital resources. It gives them practice and ample ways to practice researching and writing.

*There is now a digital component included in this resource. The graphic organizers, prompts, writing papers, and assessment pieces are now created in Google Slides. You can get access to the digital versions on page 5 of the PDF. Please keep in mind that the lesson plans are not digitized at this time, only the graphic organizers, writing prompts, writing papers, and assessments.

There are 5 lesson plans, which can be spread out over the course of 2 or 3 weeks.
There are many activities within each lesson plans, which should take you about 2 or 3 days to complete each. The lesson plans are scaffolded to gradually teach the process of research writing.
