This W.3.1 Opinion Writing unit includes lesson plans, writing prompts, writing papers, graphic organizers, and assessments perfect for making your Opinion Writing unit a breeze. In first grade, students must introduce topic/text, state their opinion, supply one reason, and provide a sense of closure.

You can get access to the digital versions on page 5 of the PDF. Please keep in mind that the lesson plans are not digitized at this time, only the graphic organizers, writing prompts, writing papers, and assessments.
There are 10 lesson plans, which can be spread out over the course of 3 or 4 weeks. There are many activities within each lesson plans, which should take you about 2 or 3 days to complete each. The lesson plans are scaffolded to gradually teach the process of writing opinion pieces.

**Please keep in mind if you are buying multiple grade levels, the 1st and 2nd Grade Opinion Writing sets will have some overlapping activities BUT the prompts, pictures, and topics will be completely different. Several of the activities are changed, too, but it follows a similar format.**

Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons.
Introduce the topic or text they are writing about, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure that lists reasons.
Provide reasons that support the opinion.
