Here we go for number four for our Setting Up Series. This week, we are going to talk about CALENDARS! First, I put a group of ‘setting up’ images to show different ways to set up your calendars using your classroom wall spaces. Then, I found several brilliant bloggers who came up with some really smart hacks to make the teaching calendar very easy!
Setting Up:
This picture shows a calendar without a bulletin board or whiteboard. Using any open wall space is one option for those of you with limited whiteboards or bulletin board space.

A new popular option is using whiteboards and painters tape. I love the way that this blogger set up her calendar with magnets. The dates are big enough so the kids can see important dates from their seats.

Such a popular pin on Pinterest. This board is outlined on her blog post and it’s great!

I love this calendar math column next to her calendar. Great idea! The number of the day changes daily (obviously), so Angela simply erases the marker each day. This would be a wonderful opportunity for classroom leaders to take leadership, as well.

This is another option for teachers without wall space! Use a display board from WalMart so that your calendar can travel with you.

I love how Farley set up clocks that show what time important events are during the day. This creates a need for students to utilize their calendar area constantly. It makes it very meaningful. A great blog post outlining teaching calendar, too!

Using real manipulatives during calendar time is a great choice to make. Students need to be able to see how their math lessons and calendar lessons correlate. Great idea, Cara!

Anything on a ring makes life easier! This is wonderful for the kids to be able to manipulate.

Does anyone have a Cameo? I love this idea so that you can write on and then erase over this!

Paperclip to slide the calendar pieces in and out. Also,-intermediate teachers- check these angles out!! Love it!
