A Few Thanksgiving Activities for Kids

Here are a few Thanksgiving activities for kids I’m planning to do this year. I have done several of them in the past, so I’ve gathered up a few pictures from past year’s lessons to plan out this year. My plan is to recreate Stone Soup, plus give students lots of learning activities the week of Thanksgiving that has to do with all-things turkeys and Thanksgiving.

Stone Soup Activity

Last year, I made Stone Soup the day before our Thanksgiving break. I used this freebie from Teach 123 to send home to families for help.

Send that freebie sheet home with students so that you don’t have to buy all of the ingredients on your own. If the students bring in one can each, you can have more than enough ingredients to make Stone Soup.

Then, it’s time to read the story to the students. If you’re looking for the book, here is my affiliate link to Amazon.

After you read the story aloud to the students, it’s time to make the Stone Soup in your classroom. I bring my crockpot every year and let it cook throughout the day. Students love trying it. It’s a great tie-in to the book.

Morning work ideas for Thanksgiving activities… This was our morning work for two weeks! Each morning, the students walk in to find this coloring sheet on their desk. It’s a break from their learning morning work. They loved it. Link to the resource is below.
